Just outside of downtown Nevada City, is the beautiful suspension bridge. The golden leaves from the surrounding trees make this incredible bridge a great spot to see autumn at it’s finest

Another great place to see the beauty of autumn is the Deer Creek Tribute Trail. Surrounded with trees shedding their golden leaves, the view from this bridge is not one to be missed.

Biking in and Around Nevada City

One really great way to see Nevada City is by bike. We have many bike friendly trails and two amazing bike shops. Tour of Nevada City allows you to rent a bike.

Their store offers biking clothes, wheels, helmets, shoes, and other necessary gear.


They rent out a variety of mountain bikes, hard shell bikes, the average bicycle, snow bikes, road bikes, and more. For more information on renting or buying a bike click here



Known best for their custom made wheels Real Wheels is another great option. With a huge variety from clothing to components to bike fitting to tires you have plenty to chose from. To see more of what Real Wheels has to offer click here.

Both bike stores have a repair shop where you can take your bike to be fixed.


Now to set out on your trail. For a nice short ride, cycle around downtown Nevada City. For a longer rides try the Empire Mine Trail. To see more trails and how to reach them Click here

If you are want a longer ride -anywhere from 10-40 miles- some possible trails to explore are the Allison Ranch Loop, the LeMond Loop, the Indian Springs, the McCourtney Loop, the Bridgeport loop, the Bitney Springs Loop or the Old Donner Pass Road. It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year

Halloween Costume Shopping

If you are in need of a halloween costume come on down to Solstice in downtown Nevada City and get some inspiration. They have a huge collection of dresses, wigs, halloween makeup, masks, fake blood, hats, jewelry, and pre-packaged costumes.

Halloween Parade and Dancing in Nevada City


Not only will the 2nd annual Halloween parade take place in Nevada City on Friday October 31st, there will also be live bands playing at the Miner’s Foundry afterwards.

Come join us for some ghoulish fun and catch all the wild and creative costumes.

The parade starts at 5 pm on Broad Street in downtown Nevada City. For more information click here. 


After the parade, head over to the Miner’s Foundry where we will dance the night away to Mumbo Gumbo.

Mumbo Gumbo blends many genres from rock to soul, afro-pop to lush balladry, zydeco to country, into a celebratory, danceable noise, creating something less a specific style than a particular feeling:  The Sound of Sheer Joy.

Fall Treats in Nevada City

Nevada city is ready for Autumn. Pumpkin ice cream is currently being sold at Treats, regular and vegan. A delicious blend of fresh pumpkin and an assortment of spices make this ice cream a delicious creamy treat. Treats has a pumpkin fest going on with milkshakes, brownies and ice cream, and the original single scoop of the most natural ice cream around.

The Nevada City Chocolate Shoppe has stunning chocolate turkey and pumpkin truffles and a very large assortment of halloween goodies. From candy pumpkins to swirled lollipops to caramel apples to the traditional candy corn the shop is fully stocked for the halloween season.

Good-bye To The Fix Restaurant

The Fix is closing soon.

Suspension Bridge Is Now Open

The 120 ft long suspension bridge is now open. Walking down from the Miner’s Foundry along a winding path, you approach a newly installed bridge suspended over the tranquil waters of the Deer Creek. This is no ordinary bridge. Walking across feels like you are on a trampoline and  you are suspended quite high over  the river below. The Forest Trails Alliance built this bridge for our community and it is beautiful.

Friday Artwalk:

The Nevada City First Friday Artwalk is this Friday, October 3rd from 5PM to 10PM. This will be the last Artwalk so come down and enjoy it.

Be sure to pick up your maps from any of the 20+ businesses featuring local artists and performers with receptions, sales and specials. Your favorite jamband MAU, will be playing at the Nevada City Boardwalk. Playing at 6 PM will be 12 year old dubstep wonderboy Nukesickle

Music In The Mountains Home Tour

32nd Annual MIM Home Tour



If you’ve never heard of the music in the mountains home tour, then you are in for a treat.

For thirty-two years Music In The Mountains is host to a magnificent home tour in Nevada County.

This year the home tour promises to deliver another spectacular weekend of seven amazing homes.

The showcase of homes starts on Saturday October 4th at 10 am until Sunday October 5th at 4 pm.
