Kodo Arts Japanese Antiques’ annual art show and sale is from May 5-13 in their warehouse in Nevada City. Twice a year, in Spring and Fall, Kodo Arts opens its warehouse to the public. Inside, you will find Japanese décor, furniture, textiles, art, kimonos, and much more! CATS, Community Asian Theater in the Sierra, is putting on a production of Teahouse of the August Moon. It is playing at Nevada Theatre through May 5.

Crimes of the Heart, a play by LeGacy Productions, is playing at Off Center Stage in Grass Valley through May 13. Tickets are $18 in advance, or $20 at the door. You can purchase tickets HERE.

Deconstructing the Beatles is back by popular demand on May 8 at the Miners Foundry.

Johnny Winter is performing at the Miners Foundry on May 17. Tickets are $40 in advance.

Howlin Rain in concert with the Soft Bombs are performing on May 25 at the Miners Foundry. Tickets are $10 in advance, or $14 at the door.

Reclaiming the Sierra, a convention put on by The Sierra Fund discussing the effects of abandoned mines in California, is taking place from May 3-5. The convention takes a look at the impact of mining and green solutions to the problems.

The annual Teddy Bear Convention is back this year on May 11 & 12 at the Nevada City Elk’s Lodge. For the young and young at heart, you’ll find exhibits, vendors, appraisers, story time, and crafts for kids. Bring a can of food for the Food Bank, and get $1 off admission. The Food and Film Series, put on by Miners Foundry and the Nevada City Film Festival, present Breakfast at Tiffany’s on May 12 at the Miners Foundry. Come and watch the classic film and enjoy a wonderful dinner inspired by the movie. Admission is $38 for non-members. Next month…The Other F Word.

Garden Tours at the Empire Mine begin on May 13 and continue every Sunday through September.
